Second shooter cards on a Mac culler: one timeline, credit kept

A wedding with a second shooter comes home as eight cards, two clocks that do not quite agree, and twice the frames of a solo day. The cull is where studios lose the most time, because two people's bursts of the same moment have to be reconciled before anyone can choose. This is how that works on a Mac culler built for teams, and what the Studio tier of Kepla adds on top of the solo workflow.

Two cards of the same kiss

The lead and the second both shot the first kiss, from different angles, in bursts. In a single grid that is eighteen frames of one instant. Culled separately it is two sets of favourites that then have to be merged by hand. The useful shape is one timeline: every card landed in order, the bursts collapsed across shooters, the blinks named, and nothing lost.

Kepla groups a day into moments, sometimes two frames, sometimes nine, and asks for one favourite each, with the difference between them written underneath. With two shooters the moment simply has more frames in it. The choosing is the same: one favourite, or none, and leaving a moment empty is a real answer.

Who does what, on the night and the day after

1. Cards copy at the venue or at home. Each card is read once. Kepla never writes to a card, so the second shooter's card goes back to them untouched.
2. The sort runs inside the copy. On the reference solo wedding that was 4,812 frames in 4 minutes 22 seconds. Two shooters is more frames, and the same idle gaps.
3. An associate runs the shoot in. The mechanical pass, answering the uncertain frames, does not need the lead. On the Studio tier the associate does it and the lead reviews the clean frames.
4. The lead chooses. One timeline, moments grouped across the cards, favourites hearted. Credit stays with the shooter on every frame.
5. Delivery states are shared. Which events are culled, which are chosen, which are with the editor: everyone on the studio sees the same board.

A rule, not a feature

When cards merge into one timeline, the easiest thing for software to do is forget whose frame is whose. That is how second shooters stop being credited and start being resented. On the Studio tier, credit stays with the shooter on every frame: the merge must never remove a name. That is a rule the tier is built around, not a setting.

Two seats against one second shooter fee
